The Woes of Humanity

Let me just start off blunt, since nowadays that is often the only way to say things without there being a change in the meaning of words or rather there being room for words to be changed or twisted. Well, as my mother has always, and continues to say: We're all human; we all bleed red and we all shit brown. And you know what? No matter how many things can be questioned in this world and in life in general, that statement will never be wrong. No matter the race, religion, country of origin, political stance, economic stance, sexual orientation, and every other characteristic of some importance, we are all human and share those similarities. These are the things that make this species so amazingly diverse.

Many of us say we want to live in a world of peace, yet we insist on living in a world of hate. As society as a whole, we have found this awful fascination of emphasizing and enlarging the negativity in day to day life. We learn to react by hating the differences that we see. We never seem to be content until we are surrounded by those just like us. But honestly, that is no way to either think or act. There is no truth in constantly being around those exactly like us. There is no life in that.

We find this need to look down on those that are different, because for some deranged reason, we automatically believe that we must be better. Clearly the average human mind is getting cluttered with both arrogance and ignorance.

Speaking to just one of these so-called differences for a moment, "The poor disgust us because they are us, shorn of our illusions. They show us what we'd look like without our fine clothes. How'd we smell without perfume..." (George R. R, Martin - GoT).  No matter what the difference may be, be it economic standing or something else, every difference can be looked upon in this manner. Why? Because we are all of the same. These differences are what make us. We all have our very own purpose in life and our very own way to fulfill that purpose. Differences are necessary.

It becomes as simple as to treat all other humans like humans, plain old respect. It is sad how clear it is that times have not really changed, or rather how obvious hatred and arrogance continue to burn through the veins of fragments of modern day society. We have seemed to taken some steps backwards and grasped onto our uncivilized instincts.Yes, there is the fact that humans are indeed animals, but that does not mean for us to become "animalistic" and prey on one another. We are, or at least attempt to be, civilized creatures.

Many have open minds, yet many remain stubborn in keeping theirs closed. In a world that appears to be swallowed by negativity at times, it can only be overcome with not only open minds, but open eyes. "Those who cling to perceptions and views wander the world offending people" - Buddha.

Use your eyes to see what is happening, use your mind to stop the hateful and distasteful actions, use your brain to stop the lies and remarks out of ignorance, use your heart to embrace the differences, use your soul to make a change.

We are all one and yet we are all one of many.

We are all human.

For You and Yourself

Life will always have its complications; that is just the way it is. You live, you learn, you move on, you grow. Complications are only moments of mere obstacles put in our way to set our minds straight again after losing some notice of certain things.

These are the times when you might just need to take a step back and not be so hard on yourself. You can only control so many things in your life, most importantly, you and yourself. Your thoughts, actions, emotions, those are all in your very own possession. Like always, even when it seems like it is not, what you choose to do is always left up to you. Whatever choices you make, know that they have their purposes. No choice should be followed with regret, for a life full of choices of regret stunt most chances of happiness. As I've mentioned in the past, things always happen for a reason, some good, some bad, but in the end all things are beneficial. Choices we make should be looked upon as such.

No matter the complication, you should be your own priority. You always hear, "oh, you shouldn't be selfish." Well, selfishness comes down to the matter of understanding it. Like most things, you can use it or you can abuse it.There's the good and there's the bad. When you learn to use it not only to your own benefit but to others as well, then you have the right idea. It also comes down to if you can't take your own well-being and self-care into consideration, how are you supposed to consider the well-being of others in a rational way?

There are times when that question hovers to the surface of your mind as you realize that you do need to in fact take a step back and take some time for yourself. In the end, there is truly no company better than your own. Sometimes a lack of company is the best company. You may just need some time to clear your mind or get some thoughts straight.

Personally, these kind of times with all sorts of complications  can be a little hard to handle at first but overtime I've learned that all I need is to take some time to simply breathe. Maybe think some things through, but at the same time keeping in mind not to overthink, or complications can start to pile on top of each other. Sometimes I can't help but be hard on myself, but in the end, that does no good. It's a matter of how you look at things. For me, as soon as I'm able to push myself past the "hard to handle" part, I've learned that it comes down to the balance of optimism and rationalization.

Other times, you may just need some time to yourself to recuperate. It is truly good to be around other people, but sometimes all their thoughts and actions start to clutter your own thoughts and actions. Give yourself some space and know that it is healthy. Give yourself time to gather your own thoughts again and get back into the swing of things.

In the end, no matter what life throws at you, know that it is for a reason and that it will do you good in some way, no matter how strange or unclear it may seem. Know that the care of yourself is important and never let anyone make you think otherwise. Take that time for yourself. It can always be needed.

I realize that this is a little late but sometimes a wonderful way to bring in the new year is to be content with doing the minimal. I have been enjoying my lazy days that have allowed me to finally sit back and relax. There will most certainly be a thoughtful post coming soon but currently I possess the obstacle of writer's block that I am impatiently waiting to fade.

Happy New Year's and hope the resolutions, that are both meaningful and beneficial, are going well.
